Lean Manufacturing
Epicor CMS is a real-time solution that was designed to support paperless manufacturing. Through the use of Kanban production, you can produce your fast moving products without setting up work orders, and create queue records for the work that needs to be completed, therefore eliminating the need for paper.
Quality
Epicor CMS allows for the creation of inspection control plans by part and routing sequence, supporting various dispositions such as scrap, rework, "as is," downgrade, and return to vendor. It includes receiving inspection schedules, online production inspections, and destructive testing, along with rework procedure and cost calculations. The system also supports APQP and PPAP, offers FMEA capabilities, and provides quality alerts to ensure comprehensive quality management.
Procurement
Epicor CMS supports both blanket and standard type Purchase Orders, with progressive supplier planning and shipping schedulers. It includes Vendor EDI, a Supplier Portal, and a web-based supplier scorecard for streamlined vendor management. The system offers Material Requirements Planning (MRP), requisition and PO approval capabilities, a buyer workbench, and support for Outside Service type Purchase Orders. Additional features include MRO purchase support, PO quotations, a vendor contact event log, tracking purchases by commodity, and vendor consignment management.
Demand Management
Epicor CMS provides an efficient interface and process to manage the volume of data that is possible with long-term Just-in-Time (JIT) contracts. It includes Demand Management, which handles creation, analysis, manipulation, and reconciliation of cumulative records for releases from your automotive customers. The Purchase Contracts module handles cumulative records for releases to your automotive suppliers. Setting up and changing deliveries (i.e., delivery dates and quantities) on purchase orders is automated, so that you can easily make changes to the schedule as your needs change.
Shipping
The Automotive Shipping Scheduler in Epicor CMS provides detailed truck times, dock assignments, and RAN numbers, with a cubing utility to optimize truck loads. It supports USMCA and customs paperwork, and the Available to Ship Utility calculates shipments based on current inventory. The system accommodates Honda shipping processes, various Bill of Lading (BOL) types, and just-in-sequence shipments, with a dock monitor for real-time shipment status visibility.
Costing
Epicor CMS provides separate cost buckets for labor, variable burden, fixed burden, material, and outside services, allowing for comprehensive cost management. It includes a burden calculator for various cost elements and supports duty, exchange rate, and user-defined factors in item costs. The system supports standard, actual, and weighted average costing, multi-level Bills of Material, substitute materials, phantom and blow-through parts, and includes future, frozen, and current cost buckets. Additional features include setup for future BOMs, an engineering change module, support for recipe-type BOMs, byproduct support, and CAD/PLM integration.
